Position Summary
Are you a recent college grad or an aspiring activist looking to learn the ins and outs of how a fast-paced movement organization runs? USSW is looking for a organized, detail-oriented part-time Assistant to provide basic administrative support to our Executive Director (ED). This is an ideal entry-level role for someone interested in social justice, labor rights, and community organizing who wants to gain hands-on experience backing up movement leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Scheduling & Calendar Management: Coordinate and manage the ED's daily calendar, ensuring high-priority meetings are scheduled smoothly and helping resolve calendar conflicts.
- Meeting Prep & Communication: Send out agendas, preparatory materials, and documents ahead of internal staff meetings. Ensure external guests are formally invited to special organizational events.
- Administrative Upkeep: Keep the digital workspace organized by updating shared Google Drive folders with board materials and meeting minutes.
- Expense Support: Help track and compile monthly receipts and documentation for expense reimbursements in coordination with the Finance team.
Qualifications
- Incredible organizational skills and experience wrangling calendars (Google Calendar proficiency is a big plus).
- Strong basic communication skills and a highly reliable, responsive work ethic.
- Ability to handle confidential organizational information with care and discretion.
- A genuine commitment to racial and economic justice and a desire to support the labor movement in the South.
